How can I submit comments?
Every NIRB screening has a public comment period of up to 21 days. When a screening is initiated, a public notice is issued to an email distribution list consisting of potentially affected communities, designated Inuit organizations, government officials and other interested parties. Parties are invited to submit their comments regarding the proposed project and its potential effects to the NIRB for consideration. All comments made during an assessment are posted to the NIRB online registry and can be viewed by the public.
By registering for an account on the NIRB’s public registry, you can subscribe to receive notifications regarding all new screenings for projects in your area of interest. As a registered user you can also sign up to follow ongoing assessments and receive the associated notifications, and you will be able to use the NIRB’s online comment form to submit your comments to the NIRB for consideration.
The NIRB also accepts comments submitted by fax (867-983-2594) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org). When submitting comments please be sure to include the NIRB file number, the project name and your contact information.
