Sandra Naqitarvik was born in and raised in Frobisher Bay (now Iqaluit.) Her husband is from Arctic Bay - where she spent 11 years - and she has 2 children. Sandra has a diploma in Human Services through the Nunavut Arctic College and has worked for the Government of Nunavut as an Inuktitut Interpreter/Translator and Translation Memory Support Officer with the Department of Culture and Heritage. She is also a freelance translator. Sandra enjoys learning about the Inuktut languages and improving her skills in terminology and phonology. Her hobbies are sewing parkas, crocheting and playing board games. She enjoys seal and narwhal hunting as well as fishing.
