How can I submit comments?

Every NIRB screening has a public comment period of up to 21 days. When a screening is initiated, a public notice is issued to an email distribution list consisting of potentially affected communities, designated Inuit organizations, government officials and other interested parties. Parties are invited to submit their comments regarding the proposed project and its potential effects to the NIRB for consideration. All comments made during an assessment are posted to the NIRB online registry and can be viewed by the public. Comments can also be submitted at any time for Active Reviews and Active Monitoring Programs and will be address in due course by the NIRB.

There are five ways to submit comments to the NIRB:

  1. Fill out a comment form on the Public Registry (see guide below for more info)
  2. Send an email to info@nirb.ca with your comments
  3. Call the NIRB’s toll-free number: 1-866-233-3033
  4. Send your comments to the NIRB by fax: 1-867-983-2594
  5. Fill out a paper comment form at one of the NIRB’s public meetings and give it to a member of the NIRB staff
